some kind of freedom

i've quited GAP today. what a relief!
London looks much nicer while being unemployed I must say;)

afterwards i decided to visit an exibition in National Portrait Gallery named Face of Fashion. the exhibition is mostly sponsored by GAP and entry is free for GAP employees. i wanted to see it some time ago, but today it was just a perfect day to go there. or last chance to do so free of charge.
unfortunately, i didn't have my camera there, and what's more, only few classics, but not my favourites, can be found on the internet. however, i've come across somebody else's blog with illegaly taken photos. some of them were even blurred;)

the exibition presents photographs of famous people of different professions taken by four well known fashion photographers. huge part of the images are occupied by Kate Moss (photographed by various photo-artists and having almost no boobs at all in a few pictures); GAP Individuals (images of different celebrities wearing GAP clothing combined with their own style); the images express an intimate relationship between a photohrapher and a model that forms during the session. that is why the photographs differ. some of them show professionality of posing models, while the rest seem to be kind of confession of celebrities. the exhibition wasn't as dull as i'd expected it to be. however, i believe that my enthusiasm is due my interest in phoyography rather than due the theme of the event. i was also nicely surprised seeing two pictures of a Polish model Malgosia Bela that appeared in 2006 edition of W Magazine.

pictures that i liked the most because of its intimacy is a photo of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt taken by Steve Klein in 2005. she's lying on bed and he's watering the garden while holding a pint. i also liked Paolo Roversis's close-up on Jude Law. it shows an actor with a bit unusual look and sitting on a bench . what amazes in this image is the clarity of the picture and the focus on the star only. the background is hardly visible. there are some beautiful people and/or images that interest the viewer due to the technique used to photograph an 'object'. good examples are Mario Rosenti's close-ups of faces and Corine Day's ability to capture the real look of her models. some of her photographs look as if taken with a hidden camera.

hasta la vista GAP!

or see you never(?)
this will turn out sometime soon. surprisingly (or because after all i was born under a lucky star;) i wasn't sacked today. i was only called a trouble maker by my main manager. he did so with a smile though;P it's all because i haven't been very professional this week. i didn't go to work twice and i won't go there on friday either. and then i'm going on looong holiday. it's time to do so! and hey! - i'm not a bad girl! i'm just prioritising:]

i've got a few pix from the sweatshop for you to have a clue;)

these two posters are located in many areas of stuff premises. doors inside ladies and gens are the most interesting example. maybe it is GAP's understanding that in fact many people like to have something to read while in the toilet...

pubbing

still waiting for spring and for "drop food not bills" campaign to affect us. and i am also still messing in GAP. interestingly, the more i speak my mind up there, the more respect i get. in other words - the less i care, the better off i'm am;P
the title of this post refers to last night. and i have to dissapoint you a bit now, there won't be 'visuals' this time:) i'd invited my friend jm for 'a pint after work'. the time and the place had been planned in advance. unfortunately (or fortunately?) there were no free sits, neither there nor in a couple of other pubs and bars that we popped into. after some time of searching for the right place, we got stopped by a couple on the street and were offered theatre tickets for a show that was about to start in 10 minutes. they couldn't make it to the show as they realised they had planned something else for that night. the couple btw, had been given these tickets by another couple (and also in the street), who due to some reason, couldn't make it to the theatre either. and so, within the next 10 minutes we found ourselves occupying two sits in the 3rd row(!) of the Playhouse Theatre and watching ..."Dancing In The Streets" ;) well, we didn't like the show much, however it was quite amusing to be there. and yeah, we felt like in Motown in the 60's indeed, while listening to those black fellows performing songs of Funk Brothers, Martha and the Vandellas, Stevie Wonder and others. and afterwards we found a pub.

in NY

2007 of course! ;)
xmas break is finished. back to the uni, and still in GAP. i may stay there for a bit longer too, as on the contrary, or maybe against the odds (?), i've been offered a permanent position. it happend on the day when i overslept and came in 1 hour late;P
although in my usual rush, i've had a good time in NY so far. yeah, i'd like to go there sometime.. but first of all i want to go to Poland, as i've been missing home recently. "kocham polska" i've read today, as some psycho Turkish man from Belgium said to me on skype! psycho, i dared to say, as he appeared from 'nowhere' and was saying naughty things. till i blocked him of course! hard to get unnoticed these days no matter how little about yourself u reveal.. grrrr!!!
and btw, i love Polska too!

and South Bank

especially by night

and this is just friday morning:]

contemplation

i went to GAP today. and i wasn't doing shopping of course. it's been a very long day for me. 8 hrs of work and 1 hr break plus travelling. not the first and not the last time there anyway. the reason i'm writing though is that today really sucked there. it seemed to be an infinity and it was boring as hell. i'd done that in the past so i know very well how it feels. (yeah, i've had 11 different jobs in London since i came here 3 years ago;). it feels like you waste your priceless time so much and what's more, there's nothing you can do about it. or at least for the moment. it's not a positive feeling at all. and about the company where i'm making a big career now. there is a GAP CD compilation made by one of VIP GAP people i suppose. a person who either has no clue about how it is to be in the lower part of the retail business hierarchy and to spend a lot of time on the shop floor, or he or she (or even it if i really want to show my cheeky and honest side) does it on purpose to make those poor bread-earners (or rather bills-payers) even more frustrated. the CD as i've been told, changes every two to six months. (i've heard two versions and the second one really freaked me out!) i've been with the company for two months. and i've had enough personally. long time ago to be precise. but as it helps me to pay my living costs, i'm 'obliged' to do it. and so, for the last two months i've been listening to the same 40(?) songs at least 4 times a week and at least 4 times a day. some may say that they do not even notice the music even though they've been there for a year or five(!!!), some are sick of it as much as i am. but thanks God, what happened straight after xmas? the GAP changed their CD!! it's worse than the old one, but at least it's sth new... since then we've been listening to some cheesy american rock-sth-whatever;) i like maybe 4 songs out of 40, another thing about the music there. it is some kind of paradox to be reminded about the freedom you cannot get for the moment and for the next 8 hrs either, by again, some shitty-US-pseudo-artist i believe and 'i just want to runaway (..) i just want to get away' by jamiroqai or somebody else's 'all i want is just little peace and quiet' when you are just dying for food or some day light. (i'm like a child. if i need sth i want it here and now, and if i don't get it i get upset;) the same applies when you listen to this 'money money money, money sticky money (..)' and 'she's got no money money money money' songs, by i don't know whom, while being stuck in one of the very few open shops (and on 01.01.2007 after 3 pm the only one!!!) in Covent Garden that is simply - hungry for money.

xmas break!!!

first semester has finished today! what a relief!! got three weeks of uni now.
it's been a very hard and tiring period for me recently.
GAP or uni, and sometimes both. what's interesting or maybe shocking in a way is that between wen and thu i hadn't seen too much of the day light. it was dark outside when i left work, it was dark when i left to work, and then dark again when i finished work on thu..
